Re: Who killed the pigs?

I don't agree entirely with the scope of Henry's summation. By permitting the demons to enter into the pigs and then drown in the lake, the demons seem unwittingly to create a verifiable event that would corroborate the delivered man's story of his own redemption and the One by whom it was wrought. ...

Re: Another Introduction

Thanks Dwight. Prog is short for progressive, and I do not know that Christian prog exists. There's a lot of prog in the secular music scene and I wonder if a Christian counterpart exists. In terms of style, some characteristics are: long suites of music in a rock format as opposed to songs that las...

Re: Why not Universal Reconciliation?

Jeremiah, Thank you for your reply, it speaks right to my query. I think I will start with George MacDonald. I really appreciate this recommendation. Speaking more to the original question of this thread - why not Universal Reconciliation? - and speaking to you, my reservations about UR don't have s...

Another Introduction

Greetings Everyone, My name is Jonathan Vaughan and I live in Northern California. I am married with seven children between the ages of 13 and five months. I've been a Christian for many years, and have recently been burdened with the conviction that my work-home-church-do it all over again routine ...

Re: Why not Universal Reconciliation?

Hello Jonathan and welcome, Thank you, sir. Do you think the Universalists are ripe to split off or have already split from their assemblies? I know you asked Steve this question, but being a universalist myself I'd like to answer as well. I would think most are not, but I don't know. There are onl...

Re: Why not Universal Reconciliation?

Steve, Having been moved by your book, I've come to see that Christian Universalists have something of an uphill battle here, when it comes to getting their views more respected, if not accepted. It seems that tradition is strong, but I don't think that's without good reason; as you know, lots of pr...

Re: Why not Universal Reconciliation?

I just read Steve's book on Hell, and I am more willing to accept UR as an option. But my question for UR advocates is this:

Can faith be operant in the afterlife, or does it become something else? If so, can a protracted punishment for not having had faith produce faith?

Re: Have I Ever Been Witnessed To?

Steve, Your thoughts are on-point as usual. Certainly evangelism has a social context, and not everyone is obligated to evangelize constantly. That said, I have a couple more observations: The only people who have ever come to my door to evangelize have been cultists; ironically, no evangelicals. I ...

Re: Is satan dumb?

This is an old thread, but there's something that hasn't been mentioned here as a possibility for why Satan first attempted to disqualify Jesus from the cross and then hastened his death on it. Consider the nature of temptation and the great advantages enjoyed by Satan. It does not matter much what ...
