Re: Countdown to the Kingdom
Hey Allyn, A lot of the connections you are trying to make seem to be leaps that I'm not sure you have established as being necessary leaps. What I mean is that you are not telling how you are arriving at each conclusion, you are just telling that you are arriving there. Some of the passages (i.e. H...

Re: Universalism & Eph 1:9-11
I could ask the question if death is the final cut-off then why does'nt scripture explicitly state this? Oh hey, what about verses like 1 John 5:16 "If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to ...

Re: Universalism & Eph 1:9-11
This is a very good verse against universalism as is the reference that few make it through the narrow gate but most Christian universalists see the lake of fire as something more then vengence or punishment. I could ask the question if death is the final cut-off then why does'nt scripture explicit...

Re: Universalism & Eph 1:9-11
If the passage can read either way then wouldn't you lean on stronger scriptures than these? And here is a question I haven't seen anyone ask yet; when Jesus sits on the throne in Matthew 25 to deal out rewards and punishment, along with little simple statements like the one found in 1 Peter 1:17, R...

Re: Acts 15
If the young church had that authority then does anyone have any historical writings/proof that this church was later not to have such authority, such as the statement is made “…nowadays no church has authority…”. You would think that if a church had such a huge ability to mandate such authority th...

Re: Acts 15
I understand what you're saying. I am just asking for an example from someone who says that Acts 15 gives a case where a council mandates something for people to believe that is not interpreted. I don't know if I disagree with you, RND. However, when you said they had the authority to make a decisio...

Re: Roman Catholic and The Bible.
Well don't applaud. I have hardly done my duty. Does that not give you even more than simply reason to pause but rather to run to the history books? I'm not trying to guess whether I have the true OT scripture but that if I did, how do you think it would change my doctrinal beliefs? And do you think...

Re: Roman Catholic and The Bible.
I'm sorry. I couldn't cite word for word everything in order but I can definitely scan it in my head now and find just about anything, which was frustrating last year when all I had in my head was the NT and a basic outline of the OT. I read the OT over and over for the past year because I was weak ...

Re: Acts 15
The question was "Who could be saved." And certainly the answer by the council was in relationship that question, and they had the authority to make a decision. "They had the authority to make a decision?" I'm not sure I see that they were exercising authority. I would say that anyone has the autho...
