I should say that I really appreciate when preachers are brave and honest enough to do this. While I think Greg is doing an excellent job of thinking out loud (and especially so 'in a church')

Re: Don't Get Tricked by Complications
I'm probably misunderstanding you, but it sounds like your saying it's either gaining knowledge OR loving God. Like the two are mutually exclusive. Do you think it's actually the knowledge that "puffs you up"? Or the attitude about the knowledge? I can't imagine disconnecting knowledge, emotion, and...

Re: Greg Boyd on OT relationship to NT
Hi Matt, Funny you brought this up. I listened to this last week. I'm still processing some of what Boyd said, but like many things I hear it's quickly fading from my memory. :x I can agree with the aspect of God slowly revealing Himself to humanity over the course of history. I think that's pretty ...

Re: Was the flood universal?
I've wondered whether readers are meant to take the account from Noahs' perspective, or Gods'. If the account is based on oral tradition passed down until Moses, I can definitely see that from the perspective of Noah and his family, the whole world was under water. The storm would have no doubt have...

Re: "The Bible is the Mark of the Beast"
Nuts come in many flavors :) If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing.., (1 Timothy 6:3, 4 NKJV) How are supposed to know what the words of our Lord are...

Re: Don't Get Tricked by Complications
Hi brotherjoseph,
I'm curious what you mean by the "simplicity of walking with Christ".
What would that look like in your life?
What kind of analysis paralyzes you from living it?

Re: Thesis Done
Matt,
Very well written!
Any serious seeker of truth will, at the very least, soften any dogmatic postures upon reading such papers as you have written here. And that can't be a bad thing.
I expect that your thesis will be well received when it comes time to defend it.
Good luck!

Re: New Lectures at website
It would be nice to be able to download these as a podcast rather than mp3 (better bookmarking in iOS devices). For what it's worth, it's quite easy to convert the MP3s to podcasts if you have ITunes... even in the windows version. I do this all the time, so that I can take advantage of the 2X play...

Ok, thanks for the info guys. You've convinced me to at least experiment with this. But iTunes is still the Beast

Re: New Lectures at website
You must have a Mac. I have not found any way to convert an mp3 to an m4b without 3rd party software and it's tedious. And since I'm convinced that iTunes for windows is the anti- Christ  , I would love to just download a file straight to my iPhone as a podcast without connecting to my comp...
