Sons of men in Eph 3:5

Who are the sons of men in this verse? Is it all men in past generations or is it a reference to the Gentiles as opposed to Israel/the prophets of Israel?

1Pet 10-12 Can help us with this. Angels long or desire to look into these things, even the prophets of old who wrote about it wanted to know. With this help we see the 'sons of men' can be seen to be people, human beings over/against the angels who are not sons of men. Before it was not made fully known to prophets as it has now and these prophets and apostles are sons of men, not heavenly beings.
