Eschatology Audio Links

Post by RickC » Thu Oct 09, 2008 10:20 pm

Obviously, we have Steve Gregg's great body of teaching @ http://www.thenarrowpath.com/
Click: Topical Lectures, Verse by Verse Teaching, and the digitalministries links.

Dee Dee Warren's "orthodox preterist" sites:
The Preterist Site (Steve's Eschatology Series is included).
and her:
The Preterist Podcast
A note of caution: DDW's Preteristsite has a picture of Xena, the TV show character. You may want to block the image out, as I have. Reason for me is: it is somewhat sexually provocative, which I don't care to look at {voluntarily}. Also, Warren occasionally uses "picturesque" language {slang or colloquialisms} that some Christians may find distasteful. Lastly, Warren's talks begin with "fun stuff," like songs and trivia she finds interesting. The more serious-minded listener may want to skip these parts.

I've heard almost all of the lectures and debates from DDW's sites but do not necessarily agree with what she and other linked-speakers have to say. E.g., Mike Blume has a very good eschatology series but is a Oneness Pentecostal, and so on.

Eschatology Sermon Series by David Lowman
This is more like "in-depth teachings" than what we might think of as "sermons." David Lowman is a Calvinist but it doesn't seem to "color" his exegesis {though I, admittedly, agree with Calvinists on amillennialism, but not exactly for the same reasons}. One or more of the lectures might be repeats of earlier ones {I have to double-check my downloads}. This series is especially good on the Olivet Discourse, details surrounding the partial-and-full-preterist discussion/debate, and on mini-themes such as "666," the antichrist, the "man of sin," etc. Beliefs from different eras in Church History are cited. Like Steve Gregg, contra-dispensational themes are covered well...though, I, myself, find these getting to be "Old Hat," and as having been fully refuted for some time now.

Lastly, my computer is too old for videos. I invite other eschatology audio to be posted here {from whatever persuasion, debates included}. I ask that videos be posted on another thread.

I hope these audio teachings will be as helpful to you as they have been to me. I have more but that's all for now.
Thanks, Steve Gregg! and all.

P.S. If you found any of these talks interesting or worth posting about, "bump" the thread and let us know. Jesus Reigns! :D

G.K. Beale's Seminar on Revelation
also
G.K. Beale: "Idealist-Amillennialist" @ preteristarchives
Preteristarchives has the same lectures {as the first link, Monergism(dot)com, but not all of them}. The preteristarchive link has some "bio" stuff on G.K Beale, past President of ETS: The Evangelical Theological Society.

One thing about Beale's "talking style" is annoying. He speaks quietly---then suddenly---LOUD! So you may wanna adjust yer volume to "low." I wouldn't wear headphones...if I were you, ;) But don't miss this guy!!! He goes from Genesis to Revelation! Great biblical theology!!!!

Reformed Amillennialist Eschatology Teachings:
I've heard Kim Riddlebarger's "Reformed Amillennialism" and R.W. Glenn's "Eschatology" series. These talks present basic, standard, Reformed views. Riddlebarger gets more into the various theological issues involved, while Glenn is in more of a "preaching" mode, giving many scriptures to support his ideas.

Myself, and other Non-Reformed amillennialist Christians, became "amill" simply from studying the scriptures. These series give "the reasons why" Reformed Christians are amillennial in keeping with their Reformed theology, as well as how they differ from preterists {partial and full}.

In hearing these talks, I've come to see how I vary from other amillennialists. At least these two men, anyway. But that's another thread/topic....

Thanks, :)

Addendum

In one of David Lowman's talks, he makes reference to Steve {Gregg's} book: Revelation: Four Views: A Parallel Commentary, saying something like, "I'm using this very good book as a guideline" {and more, recommending it to his audience}. He gave it a 5 stars review! I haven't been able to buy it {yet}....

Sam E. Waldron, Gospel According to Peter Series
@ Dallas Reformed Baptist Church.

I've only heard part of one talk.
In it, Waldron mentions "Peter's gnostic opponents," giving historical background on them {and/or on the 'proto-gnostics' of NT times}. This man might be a cessationist...going by one of his other sermon titles. But even if he is, that's another topic, and cessationists aren't necessarily wrong about everything! I'll listen to more of this series and report on them {IMOs}, :)

On Sam Waldron.
The "Peter's Apologetic" talk would be of interest to those interested in "general apologetics," as well as eschatology. Waldron's illustrations are entertaining as well as pertinent. His treatment of the topic(s) at hand, and/or his speaking style, is what I'll call "comprehensive." I still haven't heard every talk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New:
I've found and heard two of: Brian Schwertley's 12 part series:
Full Preterism Refuted
@ one Westminster Presbyterian Church in WI.
Several articles and other mp3s are available on the "web" link.
Schwertley raises important points and questions {and answers them} on various aspects or themes, which, so far, have made his talks well worth a listen. A bit too technical to elaborate on here....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also, I've been trying to find debates and/or presentations from "pro full preterist" sites. I've found a few but, 1) many of the mp3s aren't free {and I just lost my job}... and, 2) some of these have built-in mp3 players that I can't access {probably due to my very old computer & java}....

'All I have for now, Thanks, :)

You're quite welcome, Douglas.
Thanks for posting the feedback too...coz I was beginning to wonder if I was talking to myself! :? @ "No yer not, Rick! See? Douglas posted!"
So, um, thank you very much! ;)

Btw, I'm going to post on your new "Evolving understanding" thread...soon.
A very good topic selection, imo, Bro! :)

Greetings.

Conditional Immortality Links

Yesterday I found:
Glenn Peoples' Blog: Audios on Conditional Immortality
and
The Conditional Immortality Association of New Zealand
Check out Al Maxey's stuff there too {I've known about his site for several years}.

Glenn Peoples' talks are thought provoking and, well, awesome, imo!
The one on "Athanatius, Atonement, and Annihilation" is interesting not only on Conditional Immortality {aka, annihilationism}, but on "Were we created immortal?" and other things relating to "the fall of Adam" and "Christ, the second Adam", etc. Glenn touches on Christology, hamartiology, and soteriology in this talk: {stuff Calvinists & Arminians like to talk about}. His other "CI" talks and articles are in-depth. Glenn has audio and articles on other theology and philosophy topics also.

The "Beretta" theme/thing is weird, :shock:, but don't let that stop you: Great Stuff!

Till recently I was, maybe, 90% persuaded about Conditional Immortality.
I'm closer to 99.9% now...and will leave it at that....

Thanks, :)

These were some links on resurrection debate between Brian Schwertly (preterist) and Don Preston (full preterist)

Part 1 - http://www.blubrry.com/player/?e=278070&p=2840

Part 2 - http://www.blubrry.com/player/?e=278071&p=2840

They were posted by Mellontes at Allyn's website.

There was what I thought was an unusual form of full preterism wherein the focus on Israel as having the resurrection. But it was useful cause the topic of resurrection is important.

You can listen to David Curtis' teaching on Acts (especially the first chapter first 6 verses). This treats the "promise to Israel" being the resurrection and somehow hence that the resurrection was fulfilled. These are apparently available from different websites.

http://www.worldwithoutend.info/start/audios/acts.htm
Mellontes had recommended 406.mp3 407.mp3 and 408.mp3. These were wholly unsatisfactory in the conclusions and didn't provide a decent explanation how his ideas are derived from scripture.
