care for the brethren before unbelievers?
care for the brethren before unbelievers?
Okay, this is kind of silly, but I'm having a real hard time finding a certain verse. I'm pretty sure that it exists. Something along the lines of a teaching that the church should be taking care of its members' needs before giving to the needs of outsiders. Does that ring a bell?
Thanks, I hope I'm not crazy.

I can't remember a specific one along those lines (which doesn't mean much! ), unless you are thinking of this one - I guess the implication is there:
1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. (NKJV)

I seem to recall the same thing -- something tells me there's another verse or two but I can't find it. 1 Tim 5 is where I would have turned, but that doesn't sound like my recollection exactly.

Ga 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Yes! Thank you Michelle and Jepne, that's the one.

Interesting - the others quoting the same scripture did not show up on my screen until today - sorry to have seemed redundant.
