About my question before (which didn't raise much interest) about the basis for sexual morality, I have this line of thinking - with a bit of input from my dad - which is not much:

Our means of reproducing is seemingly arbitrary, yes, but He wanted us to do so, and so He chose to define the sexual act as our means of producing new humans, so that a child has a biological father. God seems to have intended for the relationship between a father and child to illustrate our relationship with Himself, our Father in heaven. So ... uh, perhaps He wants children to grow up with a human father to somehow help point people towards a relationship with Him and this is best accomplished by life in a monogamous father/mother + children family unit? I don't know.

I suppose it's kind of an unpleasant topic to write about in a public forum with a lot of strangers, I realize.
