A Woman teaching men--is someone sinning?

Post by Cheryl » Tue Jun 05, 2012 4:27 pm

A very good friend of mine, a female, has been invited to teach a co-ed verse-by-verse Bible class in a Roman Catholic Church. If she accepts the invitation, is she sinning by doing so? How about the priest who invited her--is he sinning by extending the invitation?

Thank you for your kind replies.

Christians do not all see the meaning of 1 Timothy 2:12ff the same way. My view is that Paul is not wishing for the church to appoint women as overseers (church leaders). It does not seem to me that the priest is inviting your friend to be a church overseer. The Catholic church still does not ordain female priests. Therefore, I do not see any sin in this situation.

I agree with Steve. I think that a woman teaching classes is well within the scriptures.
I also agree that women should not be Pastors over men.
