Bible Versions

Post by _KeithB » Thu Jun 09, 2005 8:07 am

Has anybody used the English Standard Version (ESV) (www.esv.org) and/or the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) ? Any comments or thoughts on them. I usually use the NASB, NKJV, KJV for study and try to stay away from the more watered down versions. Thanks and God bless !

Bible versions

I use the ESV as my primary bible these days. I was a NASB/NKJV user for many years but always had some "readibility" problems with each. I have found that the ESV is just as much a "word for word" version as the two I have mentioned... it is definitely NOT a "thought for thought" version like the NIV. I have found the ESV to be a wonderful bible with everything you could want... I believe there is a web-site www.esv.org where you can find much more information. I have a copy of the HCSB as well, I have found this version to be too much of a "thought for thought" version for my taste. I hope these comments are helpful!
