These are not a quote as far as I recall. But thanks.

I remember puzzling over scripture that states that God does not tempt anyone yet seeing that God tested people like Abraham - as in asking him to offer up his son as an offering in direct contradiction to a promise that Abraham would become the father of a great nation. Somewhere in there it occurred to me that temptation was always in respect of evil, but testing, on the other hand, was to make us stronger.

Temptation is invitation to do something that is wrong.

Testing is the challenge to do something that is right.
The goal of the one doing the tempting is failure.

And the goal of the test is success. Satan tempted Job while God tested him.
