Gen 49 - Jacob Blesses His Sons

When Jacob calls his sons and said "Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you what shall happen to you in the days to come."

Then Jacob proceeds to tell each son, I think in the order of birth, what shall come of them.

Is this what we would call a prophecy from God?

I am unsure if this is a prophecy given to Jacob by God to tell his sons or if this is just a blessing from a father to his sons exclaiming what will happen to them based on knowing their character.

Obviously, when he talks about Judah for example, this ends up being prophetic, so maybe it is a prophecy from God. If that is the case then we must conclude that Asher's food yielded royal delicacies, although I don't remember reading anything about that later in the Bible.
