In need of new website photo

Post by steve » Fri Jan 15, 2010 10:35 pm

I have been told the following about the photo that appears on the main page of thenarrowpath.com:

1) It is outdated
2) I look mean in it and it has scared off people who otherwise would have been interested in the site
3) It needs to be changed

I did not choose the picture that is there (though I always thought it was appropriate to the theme of the website, and did not think I looked mean in it). It was taken by the man who originally designed and created the site (which, I have been told, is long overdue for a design update—the site, that is...not the man). I have no idea what kind of picture should replace the existing one. There are several pictures at my facebook page to choose from (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id= ... 1&ref=name). Suggestions would be welcome.

surely not!

- but I agree it could do with an update; 8-)

I'll put my vote in first while you're all sleeping...

1) your current f/b profile
2) rare smiling picture 2003
3) with guitar - 'taken March 2009'
4) 'on the air - 2004'

I like the one with you and LIz in 1988 (ok, maybe not for the site) -- closest I see is the "rare one of you smiling".

I think it's time for a portrait. Did they do one for your book?

Maybe a shot from you teaching?

Hi Steve,

The one that's there now looks fine to me. My next choice would be the one at 19 with all the hair :D . Just kidding.

God bless, Homer

Guess I'll have to enter the 21st century and sign up for face book. :P

I'll come back with a vote soon but, personally, I have always like the picture of you in the studio doing the program.

I forgot about those, I was only looking at the profile photos. I'm editing my vote to include this one.

I never thought you looked mean in the picture on the home page, but if it's time for an update, I'd go with one of the two rare smiling pictures, too.

The March 2009 pic with the glasses while playing the guitar is pretty good.

For this site I wouldn`t change anything, not even the photos.

People are drawn to at least sample this site by the urgent relevance of the issues to them.

They are kept here (if they have taste!) by the content and delivery of Steve`s broadcasts.

Over-polishing it could be counter-productive in my opinion. You might attract some more people but (subconsciously perhaps) might slightly deter others you had hitherto drawn. I for one like the fact that I know Steve does the shows from his living room!

Just my opinion.

I think I agree with several of the posts here. I personally find the current photos fine. I did just visit your "topical articles" page and the photo you have posted there could work also.

As Cesar Romero would say, "You look Mah-velous" ;)
