I just hope it works, as I've never seen the program.

Thanks Dan and Darin,

I have made the alterations and will use those setting from now on. Are you sure that changing the bit rate from 128 to 16 won't terribly compromise the sound quality?

Thanks, really appreciate it.

It wouldn't be ideal for music, but for speech 16k is just fine. The Narrow Path (low speed version) has always been 8k, and even that's fine for speech. The half hour show is at 32k, but the only difference I can tell on my computer is that the file is 4x bigger than it would be at 8k. I probably should've suggested 8k; if it were up to me, I'd make them all 8k.

I tried to convert a podcast to 8k for emailing recently & it sounded dreadful, & had to be scrapped; 16 seemed fine though.

p.s. it wasn't a RTFO podcast but a different one of Steve's.

Was it stereo? 8k is a little too low for stereo but works fine for mono. There are some other settings that could've done it too.

Steve uploaded the latest Road to Find Out program (3/13/11) with the bit rate modifications. Check it out and see if the quality is on par with your expectations. If not, I'm sure he could increase it or change some settings next time. The size was definitely much smaller!

I listened to it yesterday; it's just fine. Steve, thanks for making the change.

The last two shows haven't been posted yet (4/3/11 & 4/10/11). Does anyone know if there was a problem?

There has been a problem. I have been away. The show of April 3rd exists, but cannot be posted until I return home from Seattle to get it from the producer and forward it to Jarrod. Te show for April 10th does not exist as a distinct show. I was lecturing Sunday night and they had to play a previous program that night.
