Great free booklet on FAQs of Arminianism

Hey fellow nerds, here is another resource, an E book. This one by Rodger Olsen. As Steve does, he gives the Arminianism side without being aggressive about it. One could wish that most Calvinist were as well balanced and amiable in presenting their case.

I'm interested in why you thought it was poorly written...

Bad grammar? Too short? Bad answers?

Roger Olson is probably one of the most well-informed people on what Arminianism actually is. And he answered these FAQ's in a series of blog posts. The publisher liked them and decided to turn it into an eBook.

I do not write particularly well myself but I do read enough to often notice poor or weak grammar. However, with this book I actually noticed one point where I told myself to remember how Rodger phased the sentence because I thought he did it so well. So yes, please, where is the book poorly written?

That was probably the answer I liked the least. I agree it could have been better.

I'm a nuance guy too... so really short answers are sometimes annoying to me. But, for the most part, I thought it was a fine little booklet.

I agree with all of the mentioned shortcomings of the booklet. And given the level of knowledge displayed here I can understand the frustration with the brevity of the answers contained therein. However, given level of knowledge of the average western Christian on either side of the argument this may be very well suited as a FAQ source. As a leader in my own home church I would love to see more of our people study at even this level.

I think dizerner is just using some different definitions than Olson is, to be honest. To me, it is clear what he means and doesn't mean by 'absolute' free will.

I disagree with some of what dizerner posted, but I don't really think it's worth discussing. You are under no obligation to like the booklet and I don't like it enough to spend time defending it!

I would say that some of the best sources for Arminianism are Olson's books "Arminian Theology" and his counter-point book with Michael Horton "Against Calvinism"
