"Shall be beaten with many stripes"

Post by _STEVE7150 » Sun Dec 02, 2007 7:38 am

A few days ago on Steve's show the subject of the parable of the "Faithful Servant" was brought up and the point was made that this parable only applies to the servents of Jesus and therefore does not support proportional punishment for unbelievers. The caller said perhaps people in heaven may have to be brought behind the woodshed for awhile to be beaten with stripes in proportion to their disobedience.
However in Luke 12.46 it says He "will appoint him a portion with the unbelievers" before the servent is beaten at all.
So the servent is with the unbelievers first and then beaten with either few or many stripes.
Since the wicked clearly often prosper in this life, this scene IMO is a scene that takes place where the unbelievers reside after Jesus (The Master) returns and unbelievers are in the "lake of fire" with the unfaithful servents and is in fact an example of proportional punishment.
