common descent

Post by zeke » Tue Apr 02, 2013 11:50 pm

Hi all,my name is Paul from Portland. I would like to know if anyone has info on common descent as espoused by the evolutionists. My son and I are having a debate about this. Sadly he has lost his Christian faith. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Reasons To Believe has some articles on their website that may be what you're looking for.

Hi zeke (Paul). I'm sorry to hear about your son. I pray and will pray for him and you and your family. I'm sorry I don't keep up with the evolution topic at all anymore so I don't have any help there.

I would recommend BioLogos (http://biologos.org/questions), which is an organization of generally evangelical Christians who take a theistic evolution stance. (As I do.)

I wouldn't recommend looking at your son's acceptance of evolution as somehow being a barrier to his returning to the faith. Speaking from experience, it's possible to hold onto faith while moving toward a scientific understanding of Origins. (I'll also recommend Origins, by Deborah Haarsma as a possible resource to read through with your son.)
