Re: Is a mistake a sin?
steve4150, we agree that her eating the fruit was a sin, but the adding of the 'you shall not touch it' to the command of God was what we were discussing as a mere mistake. Matt helped me think alot of it through, and I think his interpretation makes the most sense. I had been using 1 Tim. 2:13 and ...

Re: Is a mistake a sin?
Interesting... :) I guess I just assumed that since God did not immediately blame Eve for her transgression, that she was not the one being scolded. God immediately condemns the serpent's action, but not Eve's. Obviously, God is omniscient and would have no need of asking "What have you done?", but ...

Re: Is a mistake a sin?
It may have been a 'mistake' to add to the word of God (or had Adam done that for her when he conveyed the command?), but it was not a mere 'mistake' to disobey the part of the command she knew for sure. It was a willful sin. Nor would I try to pinpoint "The Fall" to an exact moment in that narrati...

Re: Any Good Worship Music lately?
Steve, You're not just an "old fogey", the older music is still the best! Phil Keaggy's first two albums, "What a Day" and "Love Broke Thru" are still my favorite Christian albums of all time. However, I could be classified an "old fogey" at heart, due to my enjoyment of music of the late 60s and 70...

Re: Is a mistake a sin?
I think one of the revealing things about this is that Eve was capable of making this mistake before the Fall. When I've contemplated human life pre-Fall (which is often a waste of time, since Scripture doesn't address much at all), I always previously thought that Adam and Eve were just super-human...

Is a mistake a sin?
Just thought about this tonight... Is a mistake a sin? Genesis 2:16-17 Genesis 2:16-17 Genesis 3:2-3 Genesis 3:2-3 Eve added to the command of God. She added, 'nor shall you touch it'. God said nothing about whether they could touch it or not (although it probably wasn't a bad idea to not touch it.....

Re: The Day of Judgment for the Christian
I understand that position. But my question was whether believers are rewarded for their bad works in any way? The passage I quoted at the beginning of this thread was 2 Cor. 5:10 2 Corinthians 5:10 Three possible conclusions from this verse: 1) This is speaking exclusively of every Christian being ...

Possible that aspects of CI and UR being merged together?
My question is about whether the Conditional Immortality view and the Universal Reconciliation views can have some agreement in certain areas. For instance, is it possible after the resurrection that God could eliminate certain sinners after inflicting a finite punishment , but yet still choose to r...

Re: The Day of Judgment for the Christian
Ok, Todd. I understand your view a little bit better now. I wonder what the Christian Universalist position would hold on whether Christians go through any type of purging after the resurrection...

Re: The Day of Judgment for the Christian
Will they just be resurrected and that's it? Sorry for the confusion. What I meant was this: "Will they [those who did terrible evils right before committing suicide] be resurrected and receive no further judgment for their sins? How can God justly punish someone if they are not alive to be punishe...
