Double Fulfillment

A question for those who are of a preterist type mindset. Would you say that every case of a prophecy with a double fulfillment has a NT confirmation of that fact, or are there any prophecies with double fulfillments that we are left to reason out on our own?

Re: Jesus' commands not to tell

Something I was pondering regarding this question is: when did Jesus become Lord? Jesus was of course Messiah from His birth, but it is not until after the resurrection that Jesus says in Mt 28:18 "all authority has been given to Me". And in Acts 2:29-36, it seems that Peter is saying that Jesus, ha...

Jesus' commands not to tell

Several times in the gospels, Jesus performs a miracle and then tells the recipient not to tell about it. I know there has been much discussion as to why He did this, but I have a different question: Was it a sin for these people who went ahead and told anyway? Weren't they disobeying a direct comma...

Re: Jesus' temptation and "use" of the Holy Spirit

Paidion, Regarding the first of your two most recent posts on this subject, I think I agree with much of what you are saying. Jesus was certainly saying in Mt 4:7 that we should not tempt God. But I think it is unrelated to the my original question in starting this topic. I am trying to analyze a ce...

Re: Jesus' temptation and "use" of the Holy Spirit

Paidion, My answer is that Satan thought that if he could get Jesus to call upon His Father to do those things which Satan challenged Him to do, he (Satan) would then have power over God Himself! Jesus' response seems to indicate that it is not He who is being tempted, but it is the Father who is be...

Re: New Counterculture series (Las Vegas?)

Hey, I haven't checked on this in a while (like a year and half!). Any word on how these are coming along, and if/when they might be posted (I'd enjoy listening even to an incomplete series).

Thanks,
-Kyle

Logic of Jesus' rebuttal? (Mt 12:22ff)

Jesus' response to the Pharisees' accusation to being in league with the devil was basically along the lines that Satan wouldn't be casting out his own minions, because a house divided against itself cannot stand. I have always seen a bit of a flaw in this logic, I would like to see what others thin...

Re: Jesus' temptation and "use" of the Holy Spirit

Thus, Satan's temptation was, specifically, a temptation NOT to be dependent on the Spirit. It was a 'real' temptation for Jesus to 'do something Himself' (in His own innate power). To give in to the temptation was possible, but would have destroyed a large part of the purpose of incarnation. Indee...
