Some Assembly Required Lectures

I have been listening through the "Some Assembly Required Lectures" and also it seems like this has been brought up a few times on the radio show. I have a couple of questions. One is that you give a lot of importance to the practices of the early church. Is your idea of the early church that it was...

Re: Bad Example of Church Discipline

Thanks for your kind words Darin. I'm sorry if I seem to be ranting. The OP kind of struck a nerve. Really it's not always so bad. :/ I probably am focusing too much on the negative. For now, it's where the Lord has me, so I have to figure out how to make the best of it. :) But I wonder that you all...

Re: Bad Example of Church Discipline

I go to a church like this. It is amazing how quickly things can get weird. One minute you say something, the next you are in next week's sermon. And of course in the sermon, there is also that bit about submitting to church government, being humble when you are reproved, seeking the community to re...

Re: Paedobaptists and Children at Lord's Supper

I don't know anything about Methodists, so none of my comments are referring to them. I do not believe that I am believing "for my children." I remind them they have to know God for themselves. God is a person to be interacted with, listened to, KNOWN, obeyed. I can no more know Him for another than...

Re: Paedobaptists and Children at Lord's Supper

I go to a paedobaptist church that also serves the Lord's Supper to the children. Our thinking is that we baptize our infants based on faith in God's promises to save our children. Therefore they are brought into the community of the church covenant and are also eligible for the Lord's Supper. If a ...

Though it's not a house church. They meet in a building rented from another church.

Re: Good church in Portland OR area?

Are you in Portland proper? I've been trying a church for the past few weeks called "Door of Hope". http://www.doorofhopepdx.org/ It's more geared to young people-most of the folks are 20 something. I'm 44, and I've been taking my teenagers. I really like the challenging sermons and the earnestness ...

intro

Hi, I thought I'd introduce myself... I'm new here, bot I have listened to Steve Gregg for years, all the way back to about 15+ years ago when he used to be on KHappy here in Oregon. I am a mom to ten kids, I homeschool... I'm also attending a church of a different stripe than probably most of the p...
