Re: Do you agree with the Ark Encounter?
Dwight, on your question here: If evolution ever occurred, why is it not occurring now? If you tell me that it is occurring, then show me the living half-men and half-ape walking around. Chimps are our closest living relatives but many closer relatives (populations that split from us more recently a...

Re: Do you agree with the Ark Encounter?
Dwight, if you don't believe in evolution than you certainly don't believe what Ken Ham is teaching at the Ark. He claims that from the few thousand species on the Ark, all the hundreds of thousands of species of land animals alive today quickly evolved. See the image here: https://twitter.com/State...

Do you agree with the Ark Encounter?
Last week I went to see the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. I knew that as an educator, much of what I would see would bother me, but I was surprised to find that some of what is taught might also bother Christians. They teach hyper evolution after the flood, for example, which I thought was stra...

Re: Did scientists really find soft tissue inside dino bones
I read about that too. I assume there's more to the story because about a dozen people had already published on the subject with no issues. His paper was fine. Got accepted by the journal.

Did scientists really find soft tissue inside dino bones?
I made a new animation about dinosaur soft tissue discoveries! I hope you like it. I'd love to get feedback. Links to papers are in the video description on YouTube if you want to learn more:

Re: Is this where I should post about aliens?
Jason, we might be able to create something like human consciousness in a computer but we might also just end up making something that acts so much like us that we think it self-aware, even if it is not. I suppose it's possible that computers already have a type of consciousness. By that, I mean, th...

Re: Is this where I should post about aliens?
Carmine, I just found an amazing video on the philosophy of knowing. It goes over a bunch of stuff we're talking about here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L45Q1_psDqk TK, you say the brain can contemplate what makes it work. I agree that it sort of can, which is absolutely amazing, and is what we'...

Re: Is this where I should post about aliens?
Carmine, I agree that consciousness is different than intelligence but I don't understand the claim that it must be supernatural. What do you mean by supernatural? There is a long history in science of "supernatural" being a placeholder for "stuff we don't understand yet". Diseases were supernatural...

Re: Is this where I should post about aliens?
What if the aliens are Mormons? I'm just kidding ;) I think that if we find microbes on Mars or elsewhere in our solar system, it's likely that they will be related to Earth life. There is reason to believe that, via normal weather processes, bacteria are ejected from our atmosphere on a fairly regu...

Is this where I should post about aliens?
Recently there was a new alien mummy hoax that popped up in Peru. Using my understanding of anatomy, I did a few videos on it, showing how the mummy was likely made. Here's a video where I "debate" an alien believer and explain things in detail. She's the one that brought the mummy to my attention: ...
