I mostly use the NKJV for the following reasons. 1) Like the NASB (updated version), it is a good word for word translation, which makes it easier for deeper study. 2) It uses modern english! 3) It was about $40.00 cheaper than the comparable bible in NASB. 4) Most of the students and teachers in ou...

Romans 11 again, vs 28
Steve, just toying with an idea here. Romans 11:28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. My best 3 Options: 1) The first "they" in is non-remnant Israel, the second "they" is the remnant of Israel. This is diff...

Romans 11:11&12
I'm looking for some help on Romans 11:11&12. I don't understand the conclusion of verse 12. I have a good handle on the rest of chapter 11. 11) I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their trespass, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gen...

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but after reading through it I had to add to it. It seems that the nature of the heavenly body was a topic amongst the Corinthians. Paul settles it in 1 Cor 15:35-49 by stating that the resurrected body is as different from our body as the difference is between our...

What Benny is Really All About
If you want to get a better idea of who Benny Hinn really is, watch the documentary at the link http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/main_miracles.html His abuse of the gospel for personal profit will make your stomach turn. Hopefully he will repent before he meets Christ at the judgement. Either way I wouldn't ...

Two Years Old
Steve, The idea that Jesus was two years old does not seem logical to me. Here is why. Herod obviously was taking into account a margin of error when he killed all the children in a two year age range. If you were to pick two years and younger, it would seem logical that your margin of error was at ...

My Conclusion
Thanks everybody,
I've done a lot more reading and thinking and have decided that the best view is not the one I proposed at the start of this thread. The view that Paul is not mentioning Christian practice, but the practices of his opponents to the resurrection seems to carry more weight.

Thanks GCS 98. The page gives very little detail about the pagan practice it claims should be equated with Paul's statement. This makes me a bit skeptical (there are a lot of stories that people have invented to prove thier theological point). I'll have to research it further to see if it is substan...
