Re: The Trinity and Light

One of several definitions of "pneuma" says that it is "sometimes referred to in a way which emphasises his work and power." If one allows for this, then it is not difficult to see how "If the spirit (work and power) of Him, (the Father) who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He (the Father) ...

Re: Jesus has a God?

Thanks for the response Jose As what one-'echad, means in relation to YHWH. Doesn't Gal. 3:20 play into this discussion and have some bearing? 'Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.- Gal. 3:20 This definitely is speaking of only one singular being. And Jesus says that the testi...

The Trinity and Light

And the God who raised Jesus is elsewhere explicitly stated as being the Father.
Galatians 1:1 "Paul, an apostle (not sent from men nor through the agency of man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead)"

Jesus has a God?

How many is 'echad? "Echad", as I suspect you understand it, simply means one. One bunch of grapes is still only one singular bunch regardless of how many grapes it has. One team is one team without reference to the amount of members. The quantity of grapes or members does not alter the meaning of ...

The Trinity and Light

How do you interpret this verse: "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. (Joh 14:26 NAS) Do you think, then, this holy spirit is a general "power" or "essence" of God, or do you think...

Re: The Trinity and Light

Well we generally say "Holy One," adding in the pronoun that's often assumed in the original tongues. For example in the Bible saints are just called "holies" (and God is many times too in the singular). We wouldn't say that in the English tongue. However, my point was not to say the Holy Spirit's ...

Re: The Trinity and Light

Do you have a high view of the inspiration of Scripture? I only ask because it is crystal clear the Holy Spirit does have a name. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (Mat 28:19 NAS) The Old Testament also ...

Re: The Trinity and Light

"we see also happening in the case of a fire, which is not lessened when it has kindled [another], but remains the same; and that which has been kindled by it likewise appears to exist by itself, not diminishing that from which it was kindled." I fail to see how this doesn't result in two separate ...
