Hi JC, The discussion about homosexuality among animals was instigated by Homer's statement: "As far as gay marriage goes, both natural law and divine positive law inform us that it is wrong. I'm sorry, (figure of speech, I'm not really sorry) it is very disgusting to me." If by "natural law" Homer ...

Sean, This is simply conjecture. Perhaps, but in Dr. Wink's case, it is informed conjecture. 1Co 7:2 has nothing to do with homosexuality. If you are going to use this text to imply heterosexual exclusivity in modern-day marriage, then will you follow that line of reasoning to imply that all texts w...

Hi Steve, You picked up on what I was getting at: That Paul was a man of his time and culture, both of which were pre-scientific. My intent is not to imply, however, that this makes Paul's moral or theological teachings unreliable. Rather, that perhaps we try to make Paul speak to things that were c...

I’d just like to quote from an Australian book written by someone who had struggled with the issue for years: “…when true repentance was made, not only was I liberated but healing from the orientation itself became a reality.”* The problem is that Bussee, Marks, Bogle and many others who were once ...

Hi Suzana, The points you have brought up prove my assertion that the matter is highly debatable. We could continue down that road, offering counter-arguments and pasting quotes from various sources, but that's been done ad nauseum and probably won't change any minds here. I will say this though, re...

Other than your strong initial reaction, I'd be curious to know which specific points you disagreed with. You may not like certain facts, but that does not make them any less existent. I don't believe Dr. Wink, Professor Emeritus of Biblical Interpretation at Auburn Theological Seminary, would chara...

Well said, Steve. A lot of Christians lose sight of that distinction and act as if they want non-believers to conform to a supposed theocratic form of government. Historically, theocracies have not done very well with the whole human rights thing. Perhaps that's why Jesus said in Luke 17:20-21, "The...

Mort Coyle, something bothers me when the arguments for and against interracial marriage are used as an argument for homosexual marriage; I just haven't figured out what it is yet. Perhaps it's because Gay Marriage should be argued for or against on it's own merits (or lack thereof, if you prefer)....

Hmmm. Some of those arguments sound mighty familiar, Paidion: The purity of public morals, the moral and physical development of both races….require that they should be kept distinct and separate… that connections and alliances so unnatural that God and nature seem to forbid them, should be prohibit...
