"Sometimes it seems we have to "undo" a lot of bad theology before a clear presentation of the Gospel can get through. Amen?"
Amen. I've spent some years doing this with more to go I'm afraid.

Hi Bob, It wasn't my intent to argue that all Calvinists hold this view. I have heard some say stuff like this before, but I may not even be summarizing what they are actually saying correctly. The point of my post was that what we believe to be true invariably shows up in our witnessing, counseling...

I just heard something on the radio that makes me want to weigh in on this one. First of all I think it is worth noting that, in my experience, people on both sides of the debate tend to have God’s glory in mind, and both sides feel scripture is on their side. Based on this, I feel pretty safe sayin...

I say "Easter story" (in quotes) because that is what I was asked to tell by the person coordinating the event at the church I have been attending. I am at liberty to do what I want with that. I am inclined to focus on the resurrection story. The question then is how to "package" it for this age gro...

Telling the Easter Story
I have been asked to tell the "Easter story" this Saturday for several groups of kids ages 3-12 yrs, and I thought I would poll the group for ideas about telling this story to kids. I don't teach kids very often. Adults are easier for me.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Todd, I think you are correct about the distinction between eternal life and the resurrection. I have noticed several passages in my search of the scriptures that seem to indicate that the believer is in a state of eternal life right now. I’ll have to ponder this some more. Thanks for the interes...

FoF Wrote: Here is the question... Does this promise come as a result of our belief in it?...or does the fact of the resurrection, and our faith in His promise of it, result in our changed lives making us happier, productive servants in the Kingdom of God? This is a good question. I don’t think the...

FoF writes: But let's tie this in to the original question. What is the purpose? Do our changed actions result in securing a home in heaven?....or do they impact our life in a spiritually positive way? I don’t think we secure a home in heaven by our actions, but our actions are evidence that we hav...

I think a lot of people imagine believing in God is similar to believing in ghosts. As I have studied the topic of faith, believing, and trust in God (terms used interchangeably in some scriptures) I have come to the following definition for faith: Faith is being sure that someone (or something) wil...

I’m getting in a little late on the discussion, so my comments may be obsolete. I too am suspicious of the “sin nature.” Just what did we inherit from Adam? I don’t think it is his guilt. Eze 18 tells us that “the soul who sins is the one who will die” (v 4). We have inherited the flesh of Adam, whi...
