Paidion, This LeTournau guy (I was not aware of him) sounds like a great person but I would argue he didn't follow the teachings of Jesus. Had he given away everything except that which is required for basic sustainance then he would have been able to claim he lived by the Christian doctrine. Mort_C...

You're right TK. Atheist is misunderstanding scripture and then castigating Christians for not conforming to his misconceptions. He also obviously has an axe to grind, which gives me doubt about his claims to objectivity. ...and on goes the Christian tradition of demonizing those who are different ...

Paidion, In my opinion, the "uncertainty principle" basically tells us more about ourselves than it does about particles. We do not have the technology to determine where the particle is at any given time. We may be uncertain, but that doesn't prove that the particle is neither here nor there. Actua...

schoel, There was also a lot of stuff that Gandhi said that I totally agree with. That in itself does not make Gandhi divine in my eyes. I have a similar opinion of Jesus. The guy was a genius when it comes to the ethics of social justice but I posit that all claims of his divinity are later embelli...

Homer, Scientists are trying to reconstruct the earliest forms of life and yes I do believe that those lifeforms arose without competitive pressure but rather through environmental processes coupled with lots and lots of time. And yes, those organisms were no doubt very simple, possibly lacking DNA ...

Mort_Coyle,

If the future however, does run contrary to your prediction will you think less of religion or will you remain sceptical about the cognition of those machines?

Chris, To be honest, I'm no longer sure what point you're trying to make. I think it has something to do with the relativism and determinism (or non-determinism?) of the universe according to the atheistic worldview. I'll try to lay out the principles as I see them in hopes that somewhere along the ...

Homer, Wow, you're confusing issues here! First of all life did not arise "randomly" or "by chance". Early life emerged from complex chemical reactions but then competitive pressure of evolution created ever more complex organism with man being at the far end of that complexity spectrum. There is li...

Les, I'm actually on the fence on whether a biological dog is fully "conscious" in the sense that we humans understand the word. Therefore I'm not in favour of granting dogs human rights nor would I be in favour of grantnig electronic dogs human rights. Though I guess I'd be fine with granting them ...

STEVE7150, I heard Muslim apologists give the exact same excuse for the violence in Q'ran as you did for the Old Testament. They also tell me that Q'ranic violence is all in historical context and it made sense then but it doesn't now. As an atheist I don't buy it, but want you to know that they use...
