Orthodox1, I have appreciated your posts. thank you. May I ask you about this where you wrote: We celebrate Christ's Sacrifice, Resurrection and His Ascension until He comes again each First day of the week (i.e. Saturday sunset until Sunday sunset). We hold meetings Saturday night, Sunday morning a...

Steve, you also wrote in answer to Orthodox1's good contributions: Since Jesus said that it will be His own words that will judge men on the last day (John 12:48), it is incumbent on each person who will stand in that judgment to examine and follow His words... This is a good statment. Once again, h...

Steve, earlier, you responded to my answers to your questions with: Dmatic, Is this your response to my challenges? Is it really too much to ask that your responses bear some modicum of relevance to my questions? Since you may not have read them, I will present again each of my points, followed by y...

Thanks Mort. You wrote:
it was not at all unusual or scandalous for men to have sexual dalliances outside of the marriage bed.

Mort, you wrote:
Paul lived in a culture where women generally could not divorce their husbands and where adultery on the part of a woman was a serious crime.
Are you suggesting that adultery was not a serious crime, or is your point that it was "only" serious when a woman did it?

Thanks, dmatic

This is a wonderful question TK...:
In other words, would Paul's position be the same if he was writing to a church in the USA today?
Since Paul didn't allow a woman to teach, does Jesus also not allow it?

Did Paul really not think that Adam was deceived?

Hi Peter, Your questions are very good ones! Speaking the truth in love is a gola of mine too, though I must admit I seem very far from achieivng! As you probably know, everyone thinks they are right. This is helpful in trying to understand a situation. A way to approach a disagreement is to conside...

Once again Steve, I must offer my apology for giving you a non-exhaustive answer. You wrote: My point #6. The four restrictions that James placed upon the Gentiles were not an imposition of the law of Moses. Can you find the place for me, in the law of Moses, which forbids eating meat sacrificed to ...

your point number five: My point #5. For Paul to observe the law, at James' request, while in Jerusalem, was not deceptive, but diplomatic. It was in keeping with his regular policy, and it was dispelling the false rumor (thus serving the interest of truth, not deception). If the rumor was false bec...

Steve, you wrote: My point #4. Though Paul was not, as the false rumor had reported, teaching Jews to give up the law (nor was he teaching them to observe it—he simply had no teaching ministry among Jews), both Paul and James agreed that such observance of the law was not to be imposed upon Gentiles...
