Homer, Oh I see. Perhaps there are but there are those who believe in lfw who believe it is works that save (mormons especially). Not all calvinists, I imaginge would hold to that statement. In fact they probably would make the correction and say "when the unbeliever..." I agree with the calvinist o...

I agree with paidon and steve and Todd. It seems that those of matt 7 who stand before God and say "lord lord" are hardly praising God. Is the Isaiah prophecy stating that "I swear that every one will praise me (some with their lips)" would hardly do to make the point. Isaiah seems to declare a very...

Homer, where do calvinists believe that there are new creatures NOT in Christ? Thats a bit of a stretch. Every calvinist I know believes all new creatures are in Christ. Can you explain your point a bit more. Also the gospel is the power unto salvation does not mean that God does not open peoples mi...

Piadon,
Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling you out on stealing material : )

I simply noticed the coin analogy was what mcdonald uses in his book which led me to ask the question if you had read the book.

I liked that book alot. His revelation take was VERY INTRUIGING.

or is it God drawing all men and some responding positively? This part of the equation is the issue? In the calvinist universe God does not respond to men who respond to him but rather Regeneration (salvation) must occur BEFORE the person responds to God. This is antithetical to the arm. notion tha...

Perhaps the calvinist finds it that God in his own purpose has the elect to fail in many parts of their lives to keep them humble. The question does not seem problematic to me for the reformed. They simply see that EVERYTHING is under God's sov. even when the elect don't obey within their salvation....

Piadon, I read through most of it but not all posts. Everyone has their struggle with the character (grace) of God. It seems that for God to forgive people and not bring about the justive they deserve is problematic. Still yet the prayer on the cross is a dramatic difference of what we know. I reali...

ammendment

Sorry I need to ammend my last post on the issue of God's forgiveness not requiring action from us. I stated There is no doubt in my mind (perhaps in yours) that God upon the cross forgave those whom put him on the cross. Perhaps the point I think your missing is that he did not cry out "forgive the...

Homer, in speaking with mormons for near 3 months now I have trouble with their viewpoint that one gets what one deserves. The notion that God gives grace to those who come to deserve it by obedience seems to me to be a system of works. The mormons sincerely promote that it is by grace that any of t...
