Re: The True Gospel

Is 80% obedience acceptable to God? What percentage makes the grade? Jesus taught, "Unless you forsake all and follow me, you CANNOT be my disciple." He didn't say that you would be a poor disciple or an ineffectual disciple, but that you couldn't be a disciple at all! (Luke 14:33). Paidion, Would ...

Re: restoration of the Kingdom to Israel

I tend to agree with Matt that: "Maybe their minds had been opened... but they still hadn't used them yet". If we accept that the disciples had their minds opened to the understanding of the scriptures (Luke 24:45), then I imagine that they might be using the term "Israel" in the sense that Paul use...

restoration of the Kingdom to Israel

What did the apostles mean when they asked "Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the Kingdom to Israel?" in Acts 1:6? Were they still expecting Jesus to physically reign as King over the people and land of Israel? If so, Jesus doesn't correct their misunderstanding with his response. Also, how...

Warning: Very Vague Question

I am looking for a post that was made probably a year or more ago where someone mentioned the 3 ways in which we are tempted. I think it was Mattrose who made the comment in reference to a book he had read, but I could be completely wrong. If anyone has a clue as to what I'm talking about, please he...

Re: Futurist application of Matthew 24 to the end times

How do they get from statement 1 to 2? I can't find any article that discusses the reasoning for that leap. Since that leap is contextually unusual, they would need to give ample reason as to why it is. My understanding is that Matthew 24 presents two different conversations that happened at differ...

Re: Why was Jesus baptized?

Thank you both for your responses. I am still digesting them. It appears the word aphesis is also used in Luke 3:3 in reference to John the Baptist.
