Can God Spare the Believer from Sinning, Period, for Good?

IF God is all together good, and He is. If we are altogether sinful. Yet if God saves the elect through Christ's atonement, and gives us desires for Him. And if we are a new creation in Him, empowered to not sin or as the Bible says, "present our members for instruments of righteousness" What is the...

Re: Is God a Monster?

Well I listened to Steve's comments that first started to thread in its entire context, namely I listened to the entire lecture series on God's Sovereignty and Man's Salvation. Very persuasive and convincing. Thanks for all that hard work, Steve.

Re: Is God a Monster?

So, which NT Writer teaches that the Father’s “gift” is and was given to all of mankind? Hi Robbyyoung - I went to a well-known Wesleyan-Arminian church denomination to look up their Scriptural proof texts on prevenient grace. None of them seemed satisfactory. So I went to the good, ol', reliable t...

Re: A Denomination More Arminian than Wesleyan?

Singalphile, I hear your points. This thread was just concerning the "theology" of a church - if you will. Obviously it's focus will be on the theology presented from a sermon. I am friends with a Nazarene (that's the denomination I grew up in myself) who has accepted Reformed teaching. I have encou...

Re: A Denomination More Arminian than Wesleyan?

Steve - Your words have put a check on me. I agree whole-heartedly with you. I guess my point, is at times that churches who have topical series (which are by no means, not bad) such as: "Eight Ways to Pray Better," or whatever at times when I have given them listening in previous years, seem lackin...

Offering and Giving in the Church of Acts vs Offering Now

On today's show from 2-3pm -- and I couldn't tell if it was a repeat or "best of," (as it was Monday when I tuned in for a bit) or if it was live... but the last question Steve, you talked about a lot of good points. If I can sum them up logically, and perhaps not as chronological, but I'm a writer ...

Re: Preferred Bible Translation

I had heard about, and have had an HCSB Study Bible for some time. I received a Christian Standard Bible (the revised HCSB) for pastoral review. I had found in comparing the CSB and HCSB more reasons to love the HCSB besides the literal translation of gender in HCSB. I posted an exhaustive review he...

A Denomination More Arminian than Wesleyan?

I've been reading a great book on Jacob Arminius's teachings about soteriology called "Grace, Faith, and Free Will" by Robert E. Picirilli. To put it in a nut shell, he makes some references to the fact that many self-proclaimed Arminians today, proclaim Arminianism more as a "Not-Calvinist," procla...

Re: Is God a Monster?

Steve, you also said, and I've been chewing on this all day: My point was that very few “good Christians” (in fact, probably, not many "bad Christians" or even pagans), if given the opportunity to save every drowning passenger of a sunken ship, would choose to save only a minority of them, and leave...
