Re: Trinity.

In order to reject the doctrine of the Trinity, it seems to me that you have to do one of two things: 1. Either you reject that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are EACH God, 2. Or you reject that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are separate and distinct from one another. However, t...

Re: Trinity.

To Brenden and anyone else who is interested: Here is my list. I may have missed some but it shows the huge amount of references to the Trinity. Keep in mind, the phrase "Son of God" is a reference to the Father and the Son. I hope you find this useful. Just click on the images to enlarge them. http...

Re: Could Jesus have taken a wife while on earth?

Paidion, you ask, "isn't there a difference between a man's body and his bride?" Well, Ephesians 5:28-30 seems to equate Christ's body, the church, with His bride (verse 27). Also, look at 2 Corinthians 11:2.

Re: Could Jesus have taken a wife while on earth?

To Paidion, No I don't know of a place where the specific words "church" and "bride" are both used together, but Paul's teaching in Ephesians 5:22-33 certainly shows us that the relationship of the husband and wife is to be like that of Christ and the church. In fact, verse 27 could be a reference t...

Re: Trinity.

To Brenden, my apprehension of the Trinity has been an ever increasing eye-opener. The latest revelation was while reading John 17. Notice the DEEP LOVE, RESPECT AND HONOR that the Son has for the Father! Their is obviously sweet communion between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Is this no...

Re: Could Jesus have taken a wife while on earth?

Regarding Brenden's remarks: When I asked my pastor if he thought the church was the New Jerusalem, he acted as if it was something he had long believed, even though it was a new concept for me. I do not know the general view of evangelicals. However since both the church and the New Jerusalem are c...

Re: Could Jesus have taken a wife while on earth?

Okay, I have read these verses many times but didn't quite catch the full meaning until I considered this question: Matthew 9:14-15; Matthew 22:1-14; John 3:29; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:22-32; Revelation 19:7-9; Revelation 21:9-22:5 From these verses, it appears that from the beginning of the...

Could Jesus have taken a wife while on earth?

This question intrigued me, so I did do some research and was surprised by what I learned. I think it is an important question that actually gives us better understanding of what the Bible teaches. But I am very interested to hear other's thoughts before I share mine. God bless you! Dwight

Re: Looking for non-institutional fellowship in Vancouver WA

Thanks jriccitelli for your response. This is Dwight again. I believe that Ephesians 4 is the only place where the word "pastor" is used in scripture. But I think that a quick comparison with other scriptures, some of which I already mentioned before, makes it clear that a pastor, a shepherd, an ove...

Re: Looking for non-institutional fellowship in Vancouver WA

Responding to jriccitelli, my name is Dwight and I am new on the forum. 1 Timothy 3:1-7 tells us that if any man aspires to the office of an overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do. Verses 4 and 5 tell us that he must be one who manages his own household well or he won't be able to take care of...
