Re: "Charismatic" experience
Hi TK, Thanks for having the courage to share this experience with us. I realize it may feel a bit risky to do so. you wrote: I confess that I am still about 10% skeptical I think I got the other 90% so maybe together got the skeptical thing fully covered  . But in all seriousness, while I don’...

Re: What are we to make of the Haiti earthquake?
Hi Roy, I don't know how Pat would feel about being defended by invoking his age, but to be quite honest I would feel a bit belittled by that if I were him (or anyone else of that age). I know that's not the way you meant it, but it is kind of presumptive don't you think? I'm only 42 and I've been s...

Re: The amazing Blumhardts
I can echo your sentiments here Steve. I found this .pdf book a few years ago when I googled Blumhardt after listening to (and then teaching on) your spiritual warfare series. It was a very amazing story and I brought a copy in to the prison inmates that I was teaching at the time. They too were pre...

Re: Topical vs. Expository Preaching?
My question would be....superior to do what?
Wouldn't the chosen approach depend upon the purpose or outcome you're after? Why must they be mutually exclusive?
As far as topical being inferior, it seems to me Jesus did a lot of topical preaching.

Hi Michelle, you wrote: How far off, really, is the impression that Christians are condemning and judgmental when we come dangerously close to saying to one member of the body, "Pat, we have no need of you." Did someone actually say that here or are you referring to something else you read/heard? Ju...

Re: Institutional Church Membership
I'd also just like to say something somewhat related to this topic. When looking for a fellowship to meet with a few years ago, one of the criteria I sought for was a community that had interaction and collaboration with other communities as a core value. I'm happy to say that I found that in the fe...

Re: Institutional Church Membership
Hi Homer, I always assumed that passage was talking about lists of those whom would receive support from the church. Do you have some insight to share on that? I'd love to hear it. But my real point was, I honestly don't see how having a list of known Christians (widows in this case) in a locality e...

Re: Institutional Church Membership
That sounds like something I've heard John MacArthur say.
That's really reading things into the white space IMO.

Re: What are we to make of the Haiti earthquake?
I occasionally have heard rumors from listeners telling me of persons they have spoken to who are very critical of my program or of me—but so far the critics in these reports have always been Christians—often pastors. Yep, I know first hand that the rumors are true. And that's exactly my point. You...

Re: What are we to make of the Haiti earthquake?
What if the above statement of Jesus was made today and played on CNN? might cause an uproar. TK It might, unless of course he also proved it by healing the blind man like he did in that case. TK, the thing is, those words weren’t televised, they were spoken privately to His disciples as a matter o...
