Re: Trinities podcast
Dr Tuggy did very well vs Dr Michael Brown. Out the gate, I think Tuggy gave deference to the older man, at first Tuggy let Brown go on rabbit trails. By the middle, both men were tracking and in form. And I though by the end Tuggy was in his element, making clear his points for which I thought Brow...

Re: Trinities podcast
Listened to "The Apostle Paul a Unitarian." Imo, a very sober and clarifying talk. I'd already been leaning increasingly, the more I notice the distinctions made between God and Jesus in the Bible, to the view that only the father is God. Plan to one day to reveal my own leanings in person to a Chri...

Re: Church or Club
Great read Paidon. Puts it rather starkly. Entity X is the most reflective of modern gatherings I believe. I've been going to "church" of some form for 11 years. From 2013 - 2016 I was a part of a home church that was similar to what is described of the Early Church. I speak for myself in the follow...

Re: (Seemingly) strange applications of OT prophecy in the N
This is the one that I found most peculiar: An angel told Joseph to take Jesus as a baby to Egypt to hide him from Herod. Matthew wrote that when Jesus was brought back from Egypt this fulfilled Hosea's prophecy "Out of Egypt have I called my son." So he got up, took the child and his mother during...

Re: (Seemingly) strange applications of OT prophecy in the N
Thank you very much for the resource, Carmine. Having read just a few pages so far, I can see that they (the authors of the article) are, or have been, "on my wavelength" on this, and am looking forward to reading how they come to terms with this problem, as time permits. I do have a working knowled...

(Seemingly) strange applications of OT prophecy in the NT
I've been turning this over in my mind for a while, ever since my wife and I had a discussion in which she was quite taken aback by remarks I made while we were discussing a particular New Testament passage. We were discussing the birth of Jesus, and she said that it was predicted by Isaiah. I said ...

Re: hell question
Write out Revelation 14:11 on a piece of paper. Next to it, write out Isaiah 34:10. Read all of Isaiah 34. I don’t think you can do that and sincerely still think Revelation 14:11 supports eternal torment, though when I was younger that’s the verse I heard quoted most often to support the view. Havi...

Re: The Afterlife
If Jesus was the firstborn from the dead, what was Lazarus? Was he not resurrected? I 'm sure I've heard an explanation but I don't recall. I’ve heard that called resuscitatihion, though I would think it would have to be more than that. Surely the bodies coming out of the graves in Matthew 27 were ...

Re: The Afterlife
1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Paul thinks of the human body as a house in which we dwell. If this house is destroyed, if we die, when the resurrection occurs, we will have a "buildi...
