Re: Jesus had Incorrect Opinions?

His disciples said, "Ah, now you are speaking plainly and not using figurative speech! Now we know that you know all things and do not need anyone to question you; this is why we believe that you came from God." (John 16:29, 30) If Jesus knew all things , could he have held incorrect opinions? Of c...

Re: Jesus had Incorrect Opinions?

Good comments. I did once hear Larry King ask, "Did Christ think the world was flat?" (It's in the last seconds of this short clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_i0uvsyTPg) Edit: And also, Steve G. did mention on the show today that Jesus was not omniscient while on Earth. So we would all agree ...

Jesus had Incorrect Opinions?

Is there any objection, biblical or otherwise, to the assertion that the Earth-bound Jesus had incorrect opinions? I think most would agree that Jesus was not omnipresent and omniscient while He was a baby, child, teenager, etc. But I suspect that some would balk at the statement that He had any wro...

Re: To Marry or not to Marry?

Staying unmarried is definitely great, for those considering it. The unmarried have much more free time and money, no stress/worries, and more friends of all kinds. It's like having no need for sleep or food! But I am having trouble figuring out what to do with this "super power". If you could just ...

Re: Does "Holy" Mean "Set Apart"?

Good posts, those last two. Briefly, I agree that "set apart" is part of a definition of holy, but I'm not convinced that it is an adequate definition by itself . TruthInLove's post about similar words is useful. I can't say much without looking into it some more. I'm not sure if those related words...

"Somehow ...", "Some kind of ..."

This is random, but I'm in a posting mood (me and grayham, which is a cool name, btw, assuming it's a Lord of the Rings reference). It's probably not all that insightful, but I want to mention this observation (which came to me as I was listening to a sermon by a guy whose name I don't recall): When...

Re: Does "Holy" Mean "Set Apart"?

By the way, I started wondering about this in a Bible study/group, in which we watched an R.C. Sprout series about the holiness of God. You can watch/hear the particular lecture here , actually. He makes the following statements: "The primary meaning of the word 'holy' means 'separate'.", "That whic...

Bart Ehrman's Arguments

I've been listening to some speeches and debates involving Bart Ehrman . He makes several points that I find interesting. He thinks they are strong challenges to Christianity or to the reliability of the New Testament, but they actually confirm and strengthen some of my own views about God and Chris...

Does "Holy" Mean "Set Apart"?

It is very often said that the Greek and Hebrew words usually translated as "holy" have the meaning of just "separate" or "other" or "set apart". I was looking up those words, and the theological dictionaries usually do make that claim, but at least one non-theological Greek dictionary (I think) doe...
