Re: Jesus is God

Why would you give any credence to Bart Ehrman, a man who appears to have turned his back on God? The fool says there is no God. And what has Ehrman found to replace God? Nothing but a "ministry" to defy God. Isn't that alone what defines his life now? What I shared did not depend on Ehrman's view ...

Re: Jesus is God

John 1:18 in the NASB says: "No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. Even though some versions translate it "the only begotten Son", the Greek interlinear confirms that Jesus is indeed called "the only begotten God". The Greek ...

Re: The Word : The Son

Very interesting issue as I dig deeper - I don't see this verse making the lists of textual variants, but when I look at various texts there is considerable variation in this verse. Just pulling three of them... Heb 1:3 (SBLG) ὃς ὢν ἀπαύγασμα τῆς δόξης καὶ χαρακτὴρ τῆς ὑποστάσεως αὐτοῦ, φέρων τε τὰ ...

Re: The Word : The Son

This has made me question the rest of the verse, too. I have to acknowledge I can be coming at this with a naive beginner grammar, but translation committees are not always as careful as they could be, either. In line with my prior thoughts on this verse, I have to question the phrase "upholding all...

Re: The Word : The Son

The WORD, The SON John 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Hebrews 1 God...hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom...

Re: Jesus is God

When our saved loved ones die, and go to heaven, we have no way of communicating with them or they with us. We cannot influence them in any way, nor can they influence us in any way. But Jesus, having died and gone on to heaven, can and does still influence us. He imparts His grace to us. Not just ...

I simply stated what I think the verse means. Note that I deliberately did not put it in quotes, knowing that those are not the original words. Haven't you ever done that?
I guess we can want things to say whatever we want them to say. But, we were talking about what it actually says.

Re: Jesus is God

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me." Can you imagine if Paul, or Peter, or John, said this? Or how about Billy Graham, or James Dobson, or David Jeremiah? Or how about if your pastor said it? Or your Bible teacher? If they said that, we would rightfully ask, "Who...

Re: Was John Mistaken?

Though you pound a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his foolishness will not depart from him. You can't help but insult with ad hominem. You might spend some time in prayer before posting. (and maybe re-read Matthew 5:22) You might spend some time learning how to interpr...
