Re: The Person of the Holy Spirit

Good afternoon Homer, ...That little Greek word allon, Strongs #243, means another of the same kind, the difference being numerical. If the Holy Spirit was of a different kind John should have used the Greek word heteron which refers to a difference in quality. The NT writers used allon some 160 tim...

Re: Jesus is God

Hi Darin, I wouldn't quarrel with his believing it, but I simply can't understand it. I truly don't understand how someone can believe that Jesus just "is" the Father and yet deny they are Oneness of some sort. Whatever it is, it's not Trinitarian. But, no matter what "system" of belief it falls int...

Re: Jesus is God

Hi Dwight,

Thanks for explaining all that. It fills a lot in and helps me understand what i didn't when i jumped into this late stage of the conversation. I see it differently, but also see what you're saying, and have no quarrel with it.

Have a blessed weekend brother.

Re: Jesus is God

...Even if there were commands to trust and believe, how can you command God in the flesh to trust and believe in God? It always comes back to "Does God have faith in God?" Really, God doesn't need faith in God... Good morning brother. Dwight, do you consider yourself a trinitarian? If so, i think ...

Re: Jesus is God

Good afternoon Dwight, Jeremiah, I think the answer is right in the verse itself. It does not say that He learned obedience through faith and trust in His Father. Rather it says,"He learned obedience by the things which He suffered." There's no need to add anything to that verse that isn't already t...

Re: Jesus is God

Hello Dwight, I can't understand how it could be said of Jesus, that he had no need of, nor possessed faith in his father. What other than faith would you call the means by which Hebrews 5:9 says he was made perfect? It says he offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to the...

Re: Women in Ministry (and in the home)

His position reads like the standard run of the mill egalitarian arguments I’m familiar with. Thankfully not of the ‘Christian’ feminist stripe though. For six years I considered myself a convinced egalitarian, I’ve been back on the fence for some months now. I’ve yet to find a consistent and object...

Re: John 20:28, Thomas' Confession & "Lord"

I think you're right Homer. Thomas didn't mean anything like 'sir'. Are there any who assert this? I think he was down on the "supreme ruler" end of the word's semantic domain. The only other humans likely to hear expressions like this at that time would be kings and emperors like Caesar himself. Be...

Re: Does "aionios" mean "eternal"?

... And by the way I am still waiting to hear your exposition of the parable of the wheat and tares, in particular how the ashes become wheat. Hello Homer, This parable ends with the final judgement(presumably),and goes no further. We must look elsewhere to see if God willed these tares to be wheat...
