What were the exact words that were written on the cross on which Christ was crucified?
Each of the gospel writers record the words in a way that differs from the other three:

"THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS" (Matt 27:37)
"THE KING OF THE JEWS" (Mark 15:26)
"THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS" (Luke 23:38)
"JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS" (John 19:19)

Why couldn't it be all of them put together, such as, "This is Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."?

But really, what difference does it make? Each of the 4 gospels writer's may have only been able to see what they wrote down.
