I was reading through John today and a difficulty crossed my reading. I can usually harmonize this stuff, but I was having a little trouble with this one.........

In Mark Jesus is said to have immediately been led out into the wilderness by the devil after his baptism

Mark 1:11-13
11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

.......But John has him hanging around for a few days... First he rounds up a few disciples, and then to begin chapter 2, it says it was 3 days later and he was at a wedding.

John 1:32-37
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.(KJV)

John 2:1
1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

Can I get a little help with harmonizing this?

The easiest solution is to see John's narrative beginning after the time of the temptation. John does not record the baptism nor the temptation, but only gives the testimony of John the baptist, including his report of the baptism, reminiscing after the fact. When Jesus returned from the wilderness, John saw Him (for the second time, the first being at the baptism, six weeks earlier), and said, "Behold the Lamb of God." The story picks up at that point.

So the day after and the three days later or whatever - is after John's testimony, right? Is that what you mean?
I had considered that but it was difficult to see why he would be anchoring every day to when he had heard John speak.

John 1 is recording what occurred in Jesus' life for four successive days after the temptation—that is, the first four days of Jesus public appearances—the official beginning of His ministry.
