Ok. I know I'm probably preaching to the choir --- oh my -- can't we can't away from these non-biblical concepts of church -- such as speaking of choirs?
I had seen the description of Church gatherings a bit clearly in 1 Cor 14 letter since Paul mentioned how badly they were doing in their meetings. Now also the same sort of list appears in Romans 12.
Therefore in Romans 12 the purpose of gatherings appears to have been:
1. Prophecy
2. Serving
3. Teaching
4. Exhorting
5. Giving
6. Ruling -- maybe resolving disputes
7. Mercy
(Rom 12:6-8)
Paul appeared to have written about these items because the Romans were failing to do these properly or had totally neglected these gifts to the body. What did they end up doing in the meetings then?
I kind of listed the ruling gift cause the mention of that gift brought to mind the question of what rulers in the Church should do. That question arises also when looking at the list of skills Paul required for Deacons and Overseers.
