1 Peter 2 and Isaiah 19

Just heard a good "kingdom message" from 1 peter 2, and our preacher briefly touched on Isaiah 19. The similarities are pretty striking to me through 1 Peter 2:12. Two questions:

(1) has anyone seen a good treatment of these two taken together?
(2) I'm wondering if anyone sees UR support in 1 Peter 2:12.

Hi Darin,

You wrote: (2) I'm wondering if anyone sees UR support in 1 Peter 2:12.

I take it you are referring to the gentiles who are currently slandering will, on the Day of Visitation, "glorify God"?
The verb "glorify" is Aorist subjunctive, meaning it is not certain whether the action described will actually occur. The writer thinks it might or it might not but can't say for sure. I guess I'd have to say that it doesn't technically lend support to UR.

1 Peter 2:12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe [them,] glorify God in the day of visitation. (NASB)

So, maybe this only means that we should be a good witness so some of them will be influenced to turn to God before that time.

That's essentially my take. (FWIW)
