Hi Steve (or anyone else for that matter),

I am currently listening to your 2012 lectures on Revelation. When discussing the seven spirits you mentioned that the best suggestion you have heard is that this is a reference to the Holy Spirit, but it sounded like that didn't gel very well with you, as it doesn't with me.

I was thinking that the seven spirits could be a reference to ALL of God's angels (spiritual beings) - the number 7 being symbolic, as with the 7 churches. This seems to make sense to me in the three places where this term is used. What do you think?

I would agree that 7 spirits is symbolic of completeness as the 7 eyes of the Lamb, therefore they don't miss anything. The 7 churches are not presented as symbolic but are named congregations or at least churches of cities whether they met all together or not in their respective cities.
