I have been reading Tim Lahaye s books and according to him that Jesus Second coming will happen once but in 2 phases. The first phase will happen during the rapture,
then immediately after the rapture the 7 years of tribulation will happen and after the tribulation the 2nd phase of his coming will happen and this is his glorious appearance
as was described ( according to him ) in Matthew 24:29-31, Rev. 19:11-21. After the 2 phases of his one second coming then Jesus will set up his kingdom here on earth for 1000 years. By the way I have also listened to Steve s tape and he said that the premillenialists placed a long gap between the end of 62 weeks which is actually the 69th week that was prophesied in Daniel 9:24-27 and the 1 week where the prince will confirm a covenant with many, Steve was 100 % correct. Tim Lahaye explained that after an undesignated period of time ( the church age) Qoute (There will be war, desolations are determined ) Unqoute .

He was reffering to Daniel 9:26 (The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.) He said this verse is referring to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD until now the present time then the prince will come as was described in Daniel 9:27 who is the antichrist.

I can t help it but laugh from time to time while I was reading his book specially the 1 coming of Christ in 2 different phases.

It may be funny but perhpas 85% of evangelicals believe this is exactly what is going to happen. Of course they have never been told any different. I didnt know of anything different (except in a very vague way) until i began listening to Steve G.

One can be a pre-millenialist without taking anything from Dan 9.27, simply believing there is a period of tribulation of some duration before Jesus second coming (one event) and then a milleneum period begins.

I dont criticize the premillenialists its just that, Tim seems to be trying too hard to manufacture his ideas in order to fit his theory.

Tim isn't manufacturing these views. This is classic pre-tribulation premillenialism, usually including dispensationalism as well --- a view which pretty well began when a certain Margaret MacDonald, around 1830, had a revelation at a Catholic Apostolic Church (not R.C. but a charismatic church in which God has restored the office of apostles). It so happened that John Nelson Darby, a prominent leader among the "Plymouth Brethren" and founder of the branch known as "Exclusive Brethren", was present. He took no interest in the charisma nor the restored apostles. But he ran with the idea of the pre-trib rapture and spread it among the assemblies of brethren. It was then spread to other fundamentalists and especially through Arno C. Gabelein editor of "Our Hope" magazine and C.I. Scofield's notes in his "Scofield Bible". My mother, whose name was "Hazel", was an ardent reader of "Our Hope." My grandfather on my father's side, once said, "Those Hope magazines are Hazel's bible." (though she spent plenty of time with her Scofield Bible as well).

I used to believe all of this, as well as "predestination" and "eternal security" until I was about 24 years of age. With the exception of dispensationalism, and the "two phases of Christ's return", that is, pre-tribulationism, I still pretty much lean toward the rest of their eschatology. I find that understanding among the early Christian writers, a position which is now called "historic premillenialism".
