Thank you, Michelle and Selah. Although this felt very sudden to me, I now think my sis-in-law had determined this course a long time ago. She was essentially looking for me to give her biblical support for her decision and got angry when I refused to do so. Perhaps the purpose of the study was to air my brother's dirty laundry so we'd all support her decision to divorce. Who knows.

Regarding my brother, I invited him to attend another bible study I'm leading Friday night. I didn't want to pressure him but said I'd like to see him there. Selah, is there a way I can send you the document I made for the study? I'm using it again tomorrow night. It's a word doc, around 8 pages.

God bless.

Hi Jason, I'm just checking in to say I hope things went well with your Friday night study. There is no hurry to my receiving the word doc. Did you get my private email? I'll have to go see if I misspelled my email account address or something. Anyway, everytime anyone announces a divorce, my daughter and I pray. We have seen the Lord save a marriage, put a couple in sin right before God (they got married and attend church), and just today, a couple who went through with their divorce (the ex-wife) agreed to begin meeting again for Bible study. God's redemptive love is good. I hope these testimonies encourage you. God bless you as you pray and study with your brother and his family. Continuing in prayer for your family, Selah*

Thanks, Selah. I sent you an e-mail this morning. It may be too soon to say but it seems like the prayers are working. My sis-in-law has not followed thru on her threats of divorce. If she asks me to counsel her and my brother again it's going to be awkward though. I may just re-direct them to a pastor.

Jason,

Sounds like you will have wise counsel for them. And being the brother they know you to be, your relational prayers will probably be greatly appreciated in the long run. I bet you are a good brother!

Thanks for the Bible study notes! What a thorough work of compiled info! I'm leading a study for young adults this Thursday evening (at the home of the "ex-wife" hostess that I mentioned in my prior post) and the hostess of the house has admitted to a lapse in her confidence in scripture. I won't go over everything in your study, but will begin to. (She particularly wants to know what the Bible says about how Christians are to treat each other. Believe it or not, her Christian mother wants her to leave her second husband. And my daughter and I are praying and teaching God's word in hopes to see God's will in her second marriage/family.) It brings tears to think of broken families/her mom's counsel, etc.)

Great to hear your sis-in-law is procrastinating! Thanks for encouragement to keep on praying. I'm sure the Lord is working in everyone's hearts and minds.

I just wanted to give an update on this one in case anyone had prayed about the situation. My brother's wife came back to him and they are renewing their vows next month. I also taught a study on the beatitudes at their house a couple weeks ago and it turned into a 3 hour discussion. So perhaps some fruit will come of this.

Wow :!: Jason, this is very encouraging. Thank you for sharing this. My prayer partner and I prayed for them, but must admit that over time my prayers became generalized to include others too, and then I thought of your specific brother less and less. I have however, continued learning from the Beatitudes by listening to TNP MP3s on the subject. My appreciation for what Jesus said has grown (and I hope I have too) so at your prompting, encouragement and reminder, I will "pick up the torch" again and pray for your brother and his wife as they renew their vows. I'm sure when I tell my prayer-partner about this, she will rejoice and pray too. We will pray your brother and sister-in-law continue to be blessed by Jesus' teachings in the Beatitudes and indeed the entire Bible. One final thought in response to your post: May the Lord have his way in all of the body of Christ as we cultivate the fruit of His Spirit! :)

Jason, that is so good! Praise God.

Suzana and Selah, thank you both! I have to admit that I also lost interest in praying for them after a time because it truly seemed like a lost cause. My sister-in-law's repentence wasn't as spectacular as we would've hoped so my family members are still pretty skeptical. However, I still try to hope for the best and would encourage prayers for her heart to be changed for real. I've noticed a night and day difference with my brother so I'm hoping to see that kind of reaction from his wife also. Thanks again and God bless!

Okay. Thanks for the update.

I'm with you!
