Why don't you ALL have just the plain book in your hands, and share how YOU think and feel about certain items and why. The guy may just not want to think and feel the same way you do.

I DO NOT FEEL THAT MY WRITING IS THIS EASILY MIS-UNDERSTOOD.

Jason has been nothing but welcoming since I have been here for just a visit on theos.org. If Jason took offense at my post, I apologize only to Jason. Jason- I apologize. I was just cruisin' by. I will try and watch it just a little bit closer next time.
Karen, I didn't misunderstand; your post was just short, so I sought more details to better understand you. Thanks for your reply.

Anyway, like you, I feel that everyone listening to TNP benefits because when someone asks a radio question, they get an answer that reflects the various perspectives, so the radio program is a good example, isn't it. I am glad to be able to learn from TNP radio program (and MP3's, downloads, forum, etc). There is a lot of room for different viewpoints and misunderstanding, but thank God His grace is greater! :)

I'm sorry, Karen, I did misunderstand you. It seemed to me that you were discouraging Jason from doing the Bible study with his brother because he would insist that his brother see things his way only, and on top of that, Jason's way of seeing things couldn't always be found in the Bible -- it just ain't in there.

My misunderstanding of your pointer to Jason about how to be a good teacher is probably my fault. I tend to read between the lines, even when there's nothing there to be read, and I tend to be literal when someone intends for me to read between the lines. I apologize and promise to withhold my questions, whether I'm clear or unclear on what is being said.

Jason wrote:Hey, gang -- wanted to give an update on this one. The first study will take place this monday, the 6th, and I prayed all week about which topic to cover with them. The answer I think I received is, "It doesn't matter what topic you pick" which kind of surprised me. But it's the only strong impression I received during my prayer time. So I decided to do a lesson on "Confidence in the Bible" since the goal of any study is to edify the believers. I pulled up some of the study notes I've made over the years on this topic and was surprised how much information was there! It would take me weeks to work through this material with them, but I want to fit it into one two-hour lesson. Otherwise, we'd never get to what I actually want to talk about -- the teachings of Jesus.

Anyway, thanks for all the prayers. Every one of them are needed!
I will be praying. Keep us updated.

Hi, Karen. I'll do my best not to browbeat or otherwise misinform anyone who attends the study group. I try to present any teaching the way Steve G does, informing people of the various views on a subject without pushing too hard in one direction. My older brother is not likely to be influenced by me anyway but I'm afraid that if I don't build up his confidence a little, he won't even bother to read the scriptures for himself... which is the goal.

SueAnn, I'll post an overview of the study (since it might be helpful to others) in a little bit. I've gleaned a lot from Steve's lecture series on this subject, in terms of laying out the basic info.

Jason, thanks so much! I will be watching...

And I am praying for your older brother! (and everyone who attends the study group).

There have been some unexpected developments. I spoke to my sis-in-law on Monday morning and she informed me that she would not be attending my study, which I thought was odd since it was her idea. When I questioned her she told me that she and my brother had been arguing a lot and she is seeking a divorce! I tried my best to counsel her but she didn't want to hear anything I had to say. I won't go into specifics but she was not interested in whether or not a divorce was pleasing to God. I had always thought her to be a baby Christian but it now seems that she never quite made the leap at all, which is unfortunate because that's what I was going to discuss with them at this study. I'm quite grieved about the situation but I can only pray this is a temporary spat between married people. But I will say I was very alarmed by how she refused to listen to any counsel.

Remember how earlier in this thread I spoke about how I spent a week in prayer, asking God which topic I should teach for this first study... and I felt His reply was, "It doesn't matter what you decide to teach." I thought it was a strange response at the time but it was the only clear message I felt in my spirit. Now I suspect this is the reason why I was given that answer.

Wow, Jason, I had a feeling there was more to this. I'll keep them in my prayers. Did you get a chance to talk with your brother?

Jason, I will pray too. My heart is broken.
