Kingdom of God/Kingdom of Heaven

Post by blackheart » Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:32 am

I was in a discussion with a brother yesterday and he seemed to think that the KoG and the KoH are two distinct Kingdoms. I had mentioned that the KoH was only used by Matthew and was due to Matthew being sensitive to his jewish audience. This did not seem to satisfy, and the discussion continued

My question is - Are there any valid argument(s) that might justify my brother's opinion?

Thanks again

Quick and sloppy here, as the workday is approaching, but here are some leads for comparison:

Matthew 8:11 & Luke 13:28
Matthew 11:12 & Luke 16:16
Matthew 13:31 & Mark 4:30 & Luke 13:18
Matthew 13:33 & Luke 13:21

Greetings,
Your friend has a novel idea begun in the early 1800s. God's Dominion and Heaven's Dominion are two appellations for the same Jewish Idea. You cannot argue facts with those who cannot read the Synoptics as One Gospel of the Dominion. "Our Father" is also a Jewish way of speaking about God without using His Name YHVH.

"Our Father, who resides in Heaven, May Your NAME be held sacred. May your Dominion and Will manifest itself here on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us the food we will need for tomorrow today. Forgive us our sins against You in the same manner as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Do not place us in a time testing, but deliver us from the Evil One. For to You belongs Dominion, Glory and Power forever and ever, Amen."

As above so below.......The Sovereignty, Dominion and Reign of YHVH is His. When Messiah appeared the Divine Sovereign and His Dominion came to earth, and it was this john prepared the Way for. Jesus told them that the the Divine Sovereign and his Dominion was in their midst...yet his detractors could not realize it. When we pray for God's Kingdom to come to earth as it is in Heaven...we are asking for His Messiah to come and institute it here once and for all. God's heavenly Dominion will become the Kingdom of his Messiah on earth.

If your friend is clueless as to Hebraic thought and language usages.....well then he'll not understand the Kingdom of God which is in Heaven and shall come to earth slowly in the hearts, minds and works of His Elect and completely at the return of His Elect Messiah.....the Son of Heaven.

In Christ,
Rev. Ken.

I think I am clueless as to what you are trying to say.
Please understand that I am one of the "unwashed" non-theological average ordinary simple foolish believers that is trying to understand His Word for a practical life of sharing with others - I promise you that our little secret about how "clueless" my friend is, will not be shared with him.

One thing that is impressive though is that this "clueless" believer is willing to give up his grocery money for a week and a half in order to help another in need. If he is clueless to the deep theology, sign me up - He has joy and he loves the Lord Jesus

Thanks again

I think it is pretty clearly a mistake to distinguish between the two, but sometimes it is hard to get away from something that you've already become convinced of, even in the face of solid evidence.
