A question for you all-
Often in Bible stories (especially in the OT) names of characters seem to carry such a high level of relevant meaning that they strike my skeptical side as inauthentic historically. Take for example the book of Ruth, where Naomi and her husband and sons names seem like obvious foreshadowings (not to mention names a parent would be unlikely to bestow). Some take this as evidence of the parabolic nature of many biblical stories (such as Ruth).
Anyone have any thoughts on this subject?

Re: Name Meanings in Scripture
Thats a good question.
Just my thoughts say to me, aren't there many places in Gods word that "seem" to be outrageous (to us humans) in the sense they could be made up, but being that its recorded in the Holy Bible and so its Gods word and we are to believe it, its true> Even if we don't fully understand it?
Also if in their traditions when naming their children , they may have given deep consideration to what names they did pick for their children.Even in this day and age my husband and I read the meanings of what we named our children before we did.
Or am I being naiive or misinformed here???? Just pondering....
