Josiah battle with Necho King of Egypt: why?
Why did Josiah (a King following God) go to battle with Necho King of Egypt. Necho states in 2 Chronicles 35:21 that he questions why Josiah is coming against him since Necho has been commanded by God to make haste (I assume in war with Carchemish). Necho telling Josiah "to refrain from meddling with God, who is with me", but "Josiah would not turn his face from him" (Necho). So my question is: why go to war with Necho in the first place and especially since Necho was commanded by God in the 2nd place? It seems God was not with Josiah as he was wounded in battle and later died.
