It has been hard for me to have any kind of regular or I guess I should say discplined prayer life since I have had children. I feel like I am in a season of learning what it is like to just walk with the Lord throughout the day without having many opportunities to sit at His feet for an hour. It seems that whenever I try to wake up early in the mornings, at least one (usually all) of my kids are up within 15 minutes. This happens whether I'm up at 6 or up at 8. Night time is definitely the best time to spend with the Lord, but even then I feel wiped out and sometimes in a zombie like state from a day with the kids. I love being home with them and wouldn't trade it for anything, but it's been a weird season of not being able to spend the alone quality time with God that I would like to.

I remember reading about Susannah Wesley, who gave birth to nineteen children, (though not all survived infancy). For her quiet time, she resorted to throwing her apron over her head in a corner; the children knew they were not to disturb her at those times.

Here is a quote I found, which sounds like an admirable example!

“I will tell you what rule I observed when I was young, and too much addicted to childish diversions—never to spend more time in mere recreation in one day than I spent in private religious devotions.” ~Susanna Wesley

ok- for so every hour of television we watch...

“Understanding the true meaning of Christ is not learning a 'Subject' but rather steeping ourselves in a Personality, acquiring a new outlook and temper, breathing a new atmosphere, suffering Him, in His own way, to rebuild in us the defaced image of Himself. C.S. Lewis
