I thought you guys here might find this article interesting. In high school science class I remember learning that Neaderthals were an early form of Human in the evolutionary chain. Now it seems that humans were breeding with them and producing viable offspring. Wouldn’t this mean that they were simply another race of human as opposed to a separate species or a link in the evolutionary chain from primate to man?

It seems like it to me. The same goes for Cro-magnon Man. As I understand it, he stood 6 feet tall and had a brain larger than ours.
