The only way you can get to the authorship of the Pentateuch is through Jewish tradition, or Jesus's referencing those writings as from Moses. In both cases you have to grant supernatural authority to the traditions. Either jewish tradition. Or the Christian tradition that the gospels are inerrant scribes of Jesus words. Neither of those are compelling to me

Duet 34.9 & 10 seem convincing as it specifically references Moses plus there are about 30 references to him as the author throughout the OT & NT. AS far as the NT references being reliable , it does not have to be inerrant to be reliable it only has to be true.

That Psalm 90 quote and the Peter quote are not referring to the creation account.

Maybe not but it does refer to a "day" from God's perspective and it was penned by the same author who wrote the creation account so we really can't know what he had in mind.

Wanted to confirm via a quotation from the book

"What this new cosmology shows is that gravitational time distortion in the early universe would have meant that while a few days were passing on earth, billions of years would have been available for light to travel to earth... we have to ask-- six days as measured by which clock?"

"If you were standing on the earth as the event horizon arrived, distant objects in the universe could age billions of years in a single day of your time. And there would be ample time for their light to reach you."

Anything is possible but is there any evidence or example of light moving at dramatically different speeds in different areas in the universe?

His theory does not depend on variation in the speed of light. In fact, appendix A in his book specifically rejects that explanation because of the lack of evidence for it.

OK any examples of gravitational time distortions? Since the universe is expanding then some parts of the universe are brand new compared to much older sections so shouldn't there be some evidence of this now?

I think Einstein's theory of general relativity has been well-established.

"According to General Relativity, gravity affects time. Clocks at a low altitude should tick more slowly than clocks at a high altitude-- and observations confirm this effect, which some call gravitational time dilation... For example, an atomic clock at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England, ticks five microseconds per year slower than an identical clock at the National Bureau of Standards in Boulder, Colorado..."

If I used the conversion table on Google correctly this would be less then a one second difference. But the differential between 24 hour days and days that are thousands/millions/billions of years each is astronomical.
I acknowledge it seems theoretically possible but seems close to impossible yet of course all things are possible with God as someone once said.

Well, it is interesting that you used the term 'astronomical' since that is exactly what we're talking about :)

I'd recommend you pick up a copy of the book. I'd be interested to read your reaction to his theory. It includes both a popular level communication of it and a more technical appendix.

Actually it depends if you are reading Gen. 1 or Gen 2.
