Non-Calvinist Systematic Theology

Post by _Homer » Thu Dec 06, 2007 1:28 am

Anyone know of a Non-Calvinist systematic theology they would recommend? There seem to be mostly Reformed ones.

Finney wrote one, which many of my friends have liked. I have my differences with him, but he was definitely non-Calvinist!

Although Wayne Grudem is Reformed, his Systematic Theology is very fair and balanced.

I've never read his 3 volume systematic theology but I've heard that Thomas Oden is a non-Calvinist.

Homer,

Have you heard of "The Faith Once for All" by Jack Cottrell? It may not be a systematic theology in the traditional sense, but it covers most of the topics.

There's nothing "dumb" about your question, TK.

I think the following wikipedia article does about as good a job as any in answering it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systematic_theology

But if you want a briefer, simpler answer, I would suggest that "systematic theology" is an attempt to systematize one's theological beliefs, in such a way as to be internally consistent as well as externally consistent with the factual elements of science, culture, history, and every other aspect of human existence.

Norman Geisler has a work on systematic theology. He is an Arminian.

I thought Geisler was a "moderate Calvinist", kind of Baptistic. Could be wrong.
